SCRIPTURE CAKE          

 

Mom left a note on this recipe that says she started this recipe, the scriptures, March 12, 1983 before she baked this cake....no wonder she was a great teacher, role model, and mom.   

 

1 Cup butter                        Judges 5:25

3 1/2  Cups Flour                1 Kings 4:22

3  Cups Sugar                    Jeremiah 6:20

2 Cups of raisins                1 Samuel 30:12

2  Cups of Figs                   1 Samuel 30:12

1  Cup of Water                   Genesis 24:17

1  Cup of Almonds              Genesis 43:11

6  eggs                                  Isaiah 10:14

1 tsp honey                           Judges 14:18

a pinch of salt                       Leviticus 2:13

Spices to taste                    1 Kings 10:10

2- tsp. baking powder        1 Corinthians 5 :6

 

Sift flour and all dry ingredients together. Then mix in the eggs and other items in a mixing bowl until creamy.  Pour in greased and floured funnel or bundt pan .

Follow Solomon's advice in Proverbs 23:14 and you will make a good cake. This is all mom wrote I hope your cake turns out....or else this was mom's way of getting us to read the Bible, and you too.

Bake in a 350 degree oven until cake springs back. Test with tooth pick or with whatever has a point you know mom.
