POUND CAKE

My sisters and brothers and I and any visitor would walk into my parents home and go directly to the kitchen, of course after the usual salutations, to see if there was a cake under mom's silver metal cake pan. She always kept it out so sometimes we wouldn't find anything there.   My favorite to find there was her pound cake.

2 3/4 cups sugar

1 1/4 cups butter (softened)

5 eggs

1 tablespoon  vanilla

3 cups all purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup  evaporative milk

1 cup sour cream

Preheat oven 350°  Use a tube pan.  Grease/flour pan.

Cream together sugar,  5 eggs, softened butter, sour cream, vanilla, and evaporative milk.

Add flour, salt, and baking powder to the mixture.  Beat by hand until the mixture is smooth and creamy and all ingredients are thoroughly blended.  Pour into greased/f lour tub pan and bake  for 1 hour.
