This was not my favorite salad mom made, however, because her hand took the time to make it I would at least have a spoonful. Mom would read recipes and add her own ingredients from time to time. Especially, if she didn't have something the recipe called for. Improvising was mom's strong suit.
COTTAGE CHEESE SALAD 
1 (3 oz.) lemon jello (optional)
1 (3 oz.) lime jello
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 can (No. 2) crushed pineapple
1 c. mayonnaise
1 large carton (12 oz.) cottage cheese
1/2 c. nuts (optional)
Make jello with boiling water and drained pineapple juice from pineapple. When thickened, add mayonnaise, cottage cheese, pineapple and nuts (optional). Pour into mold or loaf pan to set.
