Mom would not throw away food if she could help it.  Leftovers would find there way into another recipe.  A day or two old biscuits or loaf bread would end up in her wonderful bread pudding.

 

Bread Pudding 
 


 

2 loaves of  stale bread or the equivalent (of course but not so stale that you shouldn't eat it)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla flavor
1/4 cup of butter
2 cups of sugar
1 large box of raisins
3 eggs

 

Mom would also add some nutmeg or cinnamon to the recipe.  I guess she did this to make it more palpable for me...


 

Your pudding should be golden brown.
Let cool l hour before serving.
