BEEF STEW.....YOUR FAVORITE BEEF STEW RECIPE     
  

 

1 1/2 pounds of Beef Stew meat or you could use round steak that is cubed or a left over roast

3 tablespoons of flour

1 teaspoon of salt

1/2 teaspoon of black pepper

2 tablespoons of vegetable oil

1 can or 16 ounces of chopped stewed tomatoes

any leftover green beans, peas, and corn you find in the refrigerator from the day before (or use fresh vegetables or canned vegetables)

one clove of garlic chopped

1 bay leaf

peel and cubed approximately 3 three cups of potatoes

1 cup of chopped yellow onions

4 carrots cut into about 1/2 inch thick pieces

2 celery stalks cut into about 1/2 inch thick pieces

1/2 cup of chopped bell pepper

 

Place meat in a large bowl and sprinkle with flour, salt and pepper.  Toss lightly to coat.  Heat oil in a 3 or 5 quart Dutch oven or stew pot.  Add meat, brown, stirring frequently. Add about 5 quarts of water and bring  to a boil for about 1 1/2 hours stirring occasionally.  Reduce heat to low  and let simmer.

Increase heat to medium until boiling..  Add tomatoes with liquid, garlic, bay leaf, potatoes, onions, carrots, celery, and bell pepper.  Reduce heat to low, simmer uncovered 30 minutes or until meat and vegetables are tender.
