 | A small group of blacks under the guidance of Mrs. Tabaytha Watson, who were Baptist by faith, organized Mount Olive Baptist Church. In 1903 the leaders purchased a small building at 512 lead for $135.00. In 1909, a permanent church building was established in that same site. Mount Olive Baptist church is now located at the corner of University and Gibson. Mt Olive will celebrate 107 years this September, 2006. | |
