 | When the colony of New Mexico was founded, one original colonist was a very black slave named Mateo Naranjo who was married to an Indian servant, Celestina Lopez. Four generations can be traced from this union. In 1680, from records of Indian testimony, Domingo Naranjo, the second generation of this union, called himself the representative of Pueblo God Pose-Yemu. He directed the course of the Pueblo revolt from the Taos Kiva. | |
